Eastern Europe Adventure!

Hey everyone, I'll be maintaining this blog for the next month as I gallivant around Eastern Europe (and a wee bit of Asia) so you can keep track of my whereabouts and (mis)adventures as they happen. I'll try to post some interesting photos as I go, but high speed internet access might be a bit spotty for some parts of the trip, especially the parts where we'll be sleeping in caves.

Here's the basic rundown of our trip, though we have yet to figure out a lot of the exact dates:

June 1: Leave Toronto for London

June 2: Transfer from London to Athens, look at old buildings

June 4: Grab a ferry and head for the Greek island of Santorini

June 9: Head over to the island of Rhodes

June 11: Leave Greece, head to Turkey, sleep in trees in the town of Olympos.

June 13: Leave trees, head for caves in the town of Goreme, in Cappadocia (central Turkey).

Sometime later: Head to Istanbul and soak in some Turkish culture/architecture/food/coffee.

After that: Hop on the Orient Express and head to Budapest, Hungary.

Next: See if we can make it out to the Tokaj region of Hungary for some delicious wine.
Interesting fact: The Hungarian national anthem actually includes a verse about the wines of Tokaj: "Thou hast made nectar drip out of the vines of Tokaj". Nectar! I am excited.

After the wine: Wander over to Prague, in the Czech Republic.

Then: Make our way to Germany for 2 days in Fussen (to look at crazy castles) and 3 days in Munich (for the World Cup!)

If all goes according to plan, and I don't get pummelled for cheering for the wrong team in Munich, I'll be back here in Canada on Friday, July 7th!
